That Time We Went to A Sculpture Park in Napa

The di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, to be exact. It is a small(ish) sculpture park. Big enough where they have a shuttle bring you from one side to the other. Small enough where you are walking for hours in a field trying to find that next sculpture. Sometimes that sculpture is really just a maintenance shack. I think.

I did not take any photos of what this was called, who did it, or anything that I would normally do. Even a fairly lazy google image search doesn't reveal anything quickly. No one wants you to know who did this. But I liked it. And apparently others have as well. Not so much as to tell you anything about it, but enough that we all want you to see it with your eyes.

Samuel Yates

American (of course he is)

Untitled (of course it is)

oh, wait, Untitled (Minuet in MG)

You can't say Untitled and then follow that up with more words.

The sculpture made of of file cabinets is seven stories tall. The Guinness Book of World records says no other file cabinet is this big. Which is right up there for records of interest with when the Brady Bunch kids tried to see-saw their way to fame. That said, it was pretty darn cool to stand under it and imagine all those forms in triplicate.

Ray Beldner

American, older than me.

Nature Remains

I've read the description and what I read was ArtSpeak. What I see is some very tall letters made out of metal. Even when we are all gone, it will be Nature, who remains. And this sign, to remind whatever or whoever finds it. This brought me joy.

Paul Kos

Chartres Bleu

So, I am guessing French.

it depicts 12 hours of light passing through the stained glass windows of the Chartres Cathedral.

Only, you get to see it in 12 minutes! Modern society! Amazing! Who has time for that kind of stuff, well, remove France from your list, because now you've seen this!

The grounds were nice. We had a nice walk. The people were friendly and helpful. There is a museum on site as well. That also had some interesting things. Overall, this was well worth the trip. I would tell people, yes, you should go there. You will most likely not be disappointed. If you like sculpture parks that is.
