The Wells, Maine Reserve has a gallery. We went there. The exhibit, at the time was Awash: Coastal Watercolors by Suzanne Demeo & Sculptures by Baxter Academy Plastics Project which is on view: May 12 - July 20, 2025.

The odds are good that by the time you see this, the exhibit will be long over, so here are the links to the two groups that had working hanging on walls. There was Suzanne Demeao and high school students from STEM charter school Baxter Academy.

So here are the pieces I liked enough to take a photo of.

This is called "Wrack line", watercolor and India Ink.

Come on. It is unfair how talented some people are. Especially when they practice and refine their craft.

I like the colors, and dark outlines, the seaweed as a model.

Say hello to "Autumn on the Sand", watercolor and India Ink.

I am drawn to these Fall colors almost every darn time. And the effort to create this with watercolor is something my brain will not think about. And I straightened this image before I uploaded it. So why are you still crooked?

This is Jonah on the Rocks.

All of the things as above and now, add a crab. A crab! The rocks look amazing, the crab blows my mind, the whole thing is just wonderful. I enjoyed the show a lot. It really grabbed all the kinds of things that attract me to a show. This was a great find.

From the gallery website:

... marine debris scavenged from Portland’s Back Cove becomes colorful, courageous art in the hands of high school students from STEM charter school Baxter Academy

This is a jellyfish, a Medusa. Why a Medusa, I do not know. But it is big! And impressive.

And the Whale!

I like the use of all brown/orange to all blue. Look out for that net!

Also impressive is the vast variety of things these young adults found on the beaches. And sad. And impressive.
